About Joan Pauly
Over the years, I've had many mentors show me the impact the built environment has on our environment and psyche (both negative and positive). My sustainability career started with PlaceMakers, a sustainable land planning firm and then as the first Executive Director for the Kentucky Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. I expanded my understanding of sustainability working with Berea College, heading up the Office of Sustainability and launching programs that addressed alternative transportation, waste diversion, greenhouse gas tracking, and more.

I plan to use what I’ve learned over the decades to help find or build your dream home that saves you money with reduced energy bills, provides the peace of mind that comes from living in a healthy home, and the satisfaction of knowing that the 21st century building techniques we used to build your home provided a lighter environmental footprint (if you choose new construction).

I love a beautifully designed home, but I’m going to ask questions about what’s behind that pretty wall in terms of insulation and the U-Factor of the windows, whether that gorgeous appliance package is Energy Star Certified and the cool looking cabinets are ESP Certified…if those beautiful floors are FloorScore or GreenGuard Certified, and if the lovely facets are WaterSense labeled for high performance. You enjoy the search that speaks to your soul. I’ll be out back kicking the tires for you.

My Mission
We all know housing costs have skyrocketed. It’s also fair to say that in the past, high performance homes have cost more to build than homes built simply to code. The time is now to decouple an energy efficient and healthy home with lack of affordability, and I’m on a mission to find and build them. It’s quite the challenge.
